How to Tell the Difference and Start Clearing Your Energy!
Have you ever felt a sudden heaviness in your body or emotions that you couldn’t explain? Maybe you’ve had moments where you wondered, “Is there something around me?” or “Why do I feel like this out of nowhere?” You're not alone.
Many people come to me with similar concerns. Some believe they might have a spirit attachment. Others feel lost, anxious, stuck, or disconnected from themselves. But here’s what I’ve learned over the years as a spiritual mentor and holistic wellness coach — in most cases, it’s not an external entity causing the disturbance. It’s our own energy.
The Truth About "Attachments"
What we often describe as an “entity” or “spirit attachment” is usually stuck emotional energy. It’s energy we’ve carried from traumatic experiences, difficult relationships, or long periods of stress and pain. This energy becomes heavy and dense. It’s not something we created on purpose — but it lingers if not released.
This type of stuck energy stays with us, sometimes for years. It starts in the emotional field but over time, it can affect our thoughts, behaviours, and even the physical body. You might feel tired all the time, unable to focus, or experience symptoms like anxiety, panic, low moods, or even autoimmune conditions.
That said, real spirit attachments do exist, but they are far less common than people think. In my practice, I’ve only come across a few true cases. They follow very specific patterns and bring distinct sensations that are different from our own emotional imprints.
So how can you tell what you’re dealing with? Is it your own frequency needing healing? Or could it be an outside energy?
Let’s look at both sides.
Signs You Might Be Holding Stuck or Low-Vibrational Energy
These are signs that your own frequency may be out of balance or burdened by past experiences:
When did it start? Was there a difficult emotional or physical event happening in your life at the time?
Do your thoughts feel heavy or negative without a clear reason?
Do you feel tired after thinking about certain memories or people?
Have you noticed repeated patterns in your life, such as attracting similar types of relationships or situations that drain you?
Do you struggle with emotions like guilt, shame, anger, or fear, even when nothing is currently wrong?
Do you feel disconnected from your body or find it hard to be present?
Do you feel stuck, blocked, or unable to move forward, even when you try?
Do you experience brain fog, low motivation, or a constant sense that something is missing?
These are all signs of emotional and energetic residue that your body and energy field are carrying. As a life coach, I see this often — people carrying the weight of the past, unaware that it’s influencing their present reality.
Signs That May Point to an External Energy or Spirit Attachment
Now let’s explore the signs that could suggest something external is present:
Do you wake up in the night with a sudden feeling of fear or pressure in the room?
Do you feel a presence watching you when you’re alone, even if nothing is visible?
Have you ever heard your name being called when no one is there?
Do your emotions shift suddenly without any clear reason?
Do you feel drained or dizzy after entering certain places or being around certain people?
Have you experienced sudden changes in temperature, electrical disturbances, or strange noises at home?
Do you feel physical sensations, like something touching your skin, without a known cause?
These experiences are not common and should be handled with care. If you experience several of these signs consistently, it’s important to seek help from someone who works deeply with energy — not just to remove the external energy, but also to understand why it attached in the first place.

What You Can Do Right Now

Write it down. Journalling your emotions, triggers, or physical symptoms helps bring clarity. Ask yourself: When did this start? What was I going through?
Cleanse your space. Use natural methods like sage, incense, salt baths, or sound (singing bowls, bells, or even your own voice) to shift the energy in your environment.
Ground yourself. Spend time barefoot on the earth, breathe deeply, or do a short meditation connecting to your body. Being grounded helps release excess energy.
Tune into your intuition. Your body always knows. Ask yourself out loud: “Is this mine?” and listen to what your gut says. If it feels unfamiliar, you might be carrying something that isn’t yours.
Seek support. Sometimes we need someone to guide us. If you feel you can’t shift the energy alone, it’s time to reach out to someone experienced in spiritual mentoring and energy work.
